problem:
Although the craft beer category was in growth mode, sales of Christian Moerlein, a Cincinnati-based craft beer brand, were flat. Knowing the vast majority of competing beers tout brewing tradition and quality ingredients, Moerlein needed to differentiate. As they planned to introduce a new ale, Moerlein ownership wanted improved shelf appeal and a targeted brand position to attract the craft beer consumer.
-
solution:
After a thorough review of Morlein's equities, it's competition, and brand personality profile using our own Rocketyping process, Rocket Science suggested a total repositioning of the brand. After aligning the brand to the "Explorer" Rocketype, we created the identity, on-product graphics and packaging that set the tone for the brand architecture. The new brand was developed across the other Moerlein seasonal offerings as well as numerous promotional and marketing pieces.

result:
Moerlein O.T.R. Ale was launched with great success in distribution and sales. Rocket Science delivered a brand personality and graphic platform from which Moerlein has grown exponentially. We helped create brand champions among the Christian Moerlein stakeholders and connect the brand to a loyal, growing consumer base.
-
"With O.T.R ale, I had to capture the attention of the craft beer drinker & the imagination of Cincinnati.
Rocket Science made my vision a reality."Greg Hardman, President & CEO,
Christian Moerlein Brewing Company
